E-World 2025: full floors, full energy! ⚡

After three intensive days at the trade fair, it’s time to pause, take a deep breath and regroup. 🔄 But before we look ahead and dive into the follow-up, let’s take a look back at the past few days.
The E-world Energy & Water, which took place in Essen from February 11 to 13, once again set new standards: 980 exhibitors from 34 nations occupied the largest exhibition space to date, while 33,000 visitors from over 70 countries ensured an increase of ten percent. 👊
These figures underline this: The energy industry is on the move. The numerous discussions with clients, partners and interested parties at our stand also showed that companies in the energy sector are facing groundbreaking changes – with opportunities, but also with high demands.
Cybersecurity: new requirements due to NIS2.
One of the dominant topics was cybersecurity, an area that already requires constant adaptation and further development as such. With the NIS2 Directive, which has been in force in the EU since October 2024, the requirements have become even stricter: companies must adapt their IT systems, train employees, establish clear processes for risk management and set up a proactive communication structure with authorities. Audits, controls and possible sanctions will be on the agenda from 2025. It’s high time to prepare – we will be happy to support you as part of our Continuous Security Improvement. ✌️
Market communication: The beast AS4 stays wild.
Market communication also remains in a state of change – or rather: in the midst of a storm. The BSI AS4 protocol continues to cause a stir, especially in the gas sector. By April 1, all companies must have finally completed the transition. Anyone who thinks this means the chapter is closed is mistaken:
👹 June 2025: 24-hour supplier change is coming – and with it the introduction of WebAPI for the first use case “MaLo identification”.
👹 2026: The ENTSOG AS4 protocol enters the next version and will be rolled out across the EU.
This means that AS4 will not only remain a hot topic in Germany, but also a real beast at European level. Need support with taming? We integrate all relevant protocols, market roles, message formats and specialist applications into a high-performance and highly available cloud service: with VICOS, you can sit back and relax!
Publication obligations and Redispatch 2.0.
☁️ Cloud services everywhere: Obligations to publish transparency data also need to be fulfilled much more efficiently and all data must be made available on time. Structured processes and precise data provision play a key role, particularly in the context of Redispatch 2.0. Plant operators and grid operators must transmit extensive master data and transaction data in order to manage grid congestion efficiently. Sounds familiar? With the Publication Service, you can meet all requirements from REMIT to Redispatch 2.0 in an automated and secure manner. ✅
Conclusion: No innovation without exchange!
The E-world 2025 has once again shown that the energy industry is developing at full speed. The challenges are great, but the innovative power and the network are greater. We look forward to taking the many impulses from the trade fair into our work – and continuing to drive new topics forward together with our clients and partners! 🚀
