Virtimo becomes central digitalization partner of oekostrom.

With the aim of automating and modernizing processes, Virtimo will support oekostrom in the future as a central service provider around all aspects of digital transformation. Following the successful connection of solutions for virtual power plants and forecasting, we are now also celebrating the recently successful connection of oekostrom to EXAA Energy Exchange Austria via the digitalization platform. The solutions implemented are based on the Virtimo Digitalization Cloud for application development, which includes the low-code platform IGUASU as an integration layer and the BPC [Business Process Center] as a central portal for specialized users.

Since the go-live of the exchange connection, the current volume data for participation in the day-ahead auctions of the EXAA electricity exchange for the Austrian and German markets can be sent automatically following internal trader approval. Despite the complexity caused by high security and authentication requirements and the interaction with portfolio management, the solution was implemented in a very short time. The Virtimo Digitalization Cloud uses low-code principles and therefore significantly accelerates the speed of development cycles. Its flexibility also enables oekostrom to react quickly to changes in the future and quickly establish new, innovative business ideas. The connection of the EXAA electricity exchange is already the third milestone in the cooperation between oekostrom and Virtimo.

In the holistic management of ecological power plants, initial applications have successfully implemented the central provision of actual generation values from the virtual power plant solution and, based on this, the distribution of these values to create continuous intraday forecasts. The use of the Virtimo Digitalization Cloud makes it possible to automate and orchestrate previously manual or partially automated processes and make them traceable. As a result, oekostrom benefits from considerable increases in efficiency with a significant reduction in administrative costs. In addition, the automation of processes reduces the risk of incorrect manual intervention.

Martin Büscher, Head of Business Development at Virtimo and project manager for oekostrom, emphasizes: “We are proud to support oekostrom on its path to greater efficiency, speed and sustainability with our expertise and innovative solutions. With the Virtimo Digitalization Cloud, we can provide oekostrom with a stable platform that is highly available to ensure smooth running of its business processes. Together, we are giving the digital transformation a real boost and securing oekostrom’s strong growth in the long term.”

“oekostrom has made its trading activities more transparent and efficient through a comprehensive digitalization process. Thanks to the collaboration with Virtimo, energy trading transactions can be processed automatically on the exchange. By monitoring real-time data from a large number of communication interfaces in the trading processes, we have greatly improved operational reliability and efficiency, which makes oekostrom even more competitive,” says Georg Lettner, oekostrom.
